Our beautiful lake town has a deep connection to the sport of marathon running -- with our own Adirondack Marathon. We know what it's like to cheer on the runners from the sidelines, and we know the pride those same runners take in crossing the finishing line.
With the tragic events of this past week, we believe publishing the poster above, released just moments ago by the FBI, is a fitting way to end the week. We know there were many prayers said by the readers of Schroon Laker for all of those impacted by the tragedy in Boston. Have a peaceful weekend.

Spring on Schroon Lake was a lot different last year. We went back into our archives on this gray, over cast day, and discovered this stunning shot by Schroon laker Tommy Sewall, which he shared with the world via Twitter on April 9, 2012.
We all know days like this will be shortly upon us, but only for a precious few months. We hope you enjoy this memory of Spring 2012, and treasure everyday aheasd of us.
Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 11:33PM Bruce Robinson, who owned the Marina up until 2005 when it was known as the Maypine Marina, died after suffering a long illness last week.
Robinson, from Maryland, New York, was 67 when he passed away on Friday, April 12.
From his official obituary from the Heller Funeral Home:
"He was a very active member of the small community, accepting responsibilities in the local school board and volunteer fire department, among others. Living in the Adirondacks allowed him to spend a great deal of time hunting, skiing and hiking outdoors, which he loved tremendously"

Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 10:26PM Depending on your vantage point the ice went out in Schroon either Wednesday or today. By us -- north of the Narrows, it was around 3.20 pm today, according to what we witnessed on our Dropcam. The gallery of frame grabs from our Dropcam above shows the dates and times of what the lake looked like over the last several days. If you were participating in the Schroon Lake Lions Club Ice Out Contest, the official results are after the jump:
