An Unforgettable View

What makes Schroon Lake such a terrific Adirondack experience is that it can become your “base camp” for multiple day trips. Today we begin a new series on the many experiences close by and far away, that’ll make you love the ADKs even more.

Go to Trips to learn from Michael van Winden about one memory building hike he did with his family, kids and their friends.

I See Red

The point of view from first time kayaker Katie Mancine, is this week's Photo of The Week. Katie, who took her first visit here in early July, snapped the photo with her iphone and used the Hipsatmatic application for the cool post processing effect. We think Katie captured Schroon Lake's dream like quality that makes the Lake so special. Got a picture for us? Email it to SchroonLaker@me.com

Schroon's New Tasty One Stop Meal Shopping Spot

We keep hearing rave reviews from folks who have discovered the bounty of delights at Monday’s Farmer’s Market.

"You could plan an entire meal or two here, complete with wine,"said holiday maker Dr. Ed Latimer, from Montclair, New Jersey, who was staying with friends with his wife Isabelle.

"From a cheese plate for appetizers, salad greens, herbs, the main course, to dessert, it’s all here. And there’s even wine."

Dr. Latimer was impressed with the white chocolate flavor of a dessert wine sold by Colebrook Country wines.

“For a small market, it covers everything,” Isabelle told us. And here is just a sampling of what the Latimers picked up: jams, pies, salad greens, herbs, maple syrup, wine, cheese.

Farmer's Market. Today 9 am to 1 pm. Parking lot outside the Town Hall.

Shimmy Your Way To A Healthful You

Our friend over at True North Yoga Deb Philp, knows a thing or two about  getting in touch with your inner zen, as well keeping healthy. So when Deb told us that belly dancing is good for you, we were intrigued. Today, Belly Dancing Guru Natalie, from Montreal – who summers right here in Schroon --  continues her workshops at True North, with a class called “Shimmy, Shimmy, Shimmy”.

Don’t be intimidated. This workshop is designed for newbies to the exotic world of belly dancing. This class will teach the basic hip and shoulder shimmies and focus on correct posture and how to move all the moving parts of your body needed to pull this off. It’s from  1 pm – 3pm.
