Santa To Schroon Laker: I'm On My Way

Adirondack Gospel Trio will be performing at the Towne Store tonight

We've just gotten an email blast from the North Pole where Santa is readying for a supersonic journey today to arrive at the Strand Theatre on a Fire Truck for tonight's meet and greet with the kids at 6pm.

And every kid who gets to meet Santa will be receiving a book, courtesy of the kind folks Friends of Schroon Lake Library.

Events are already underway for Schroon's 26th Old Tyme Christmas Celebration and there is a ton of kid and family activities planned. To recap:

The day kicked off at 10am with a Christmas Bazaar at the Community Church, co-sponsored by the congregations of the Community Church and St. Andrews Episcopal. It goes to 2 pm.

Don’t Let The Cookie Crumble

We are less than 48 Hours away from the 2nd Annual Cookie Swap and it’s not too late to get into mix.

Friday night’s event, organized by Amy Wallenwine, Lisa  Reichard and Sherry Barrera,  is a terrific way to get into the spirit of the season and get to sample some fabulous treats. Here is how it works, according to Amy:

*Bring a friend or two, each with 3 dozen cookies. One dozen to sample and two dozen to swap.

*Your favorite apron!

*A brand new, unopened cookie ingredient. Example: spice, staple, or decoration to swap.

Fire and Ice: Picture Perfect Schroon

Photos By Jim Bohleber

As we await Mother Nature's majestic force --  of transforming our lake through snow and ice -- photographer Jim Bohleber gets us in the mood with a selection from his portfolio of Winter 2010. The colors of a burning sky at sunset, contrasted with the ice blanket covering the lake, showcases not only Jim's talents, but the true beauty of winter in the Adirondacks. Writes Jim:

"I thought they might help people get into the holiday mood, as well as give them a sample of the beautiful skies of winter. Enjoy the season!"

Thank you Jim, once again, for sharing your stunning pictures with the readers of Schroon Laker. Got photos you want to share? Send them to us at schroonlaker@me.com
