This weekend you can get a rare glimpse into an iconic Schroon Lake property at an estate sale at the Woods House.

Almost all of the entire contents are up for grabs at the sale, which is being overseen by Fred Bankosky of Red Horse Antiques and Collectables. Check out our slide show of some of the eclectic items available. The sale runs through Monday.

Schroon Lake's Opening Weekend Still On

Despite Mother Nature holding back on the sunshine -- today's Opening Weekend is still on.

"It's a go, rain or shine," said organizer Shelby Davis. But one popular event -- the hot air Balloon ride, will be rescheduled for Sunday. From Shelby:

"The pilot has decided our forecast weather conditions for this evening are not ideal for balloon flights. However, the weather tomorrow evening looks better. While we hate to make decisions that affect so many people, safety is the utmost concern. Based on that, the hot air balloon rides are going to be rescheduled for same time Sunday, May 26.

It's Back

You know when the season has begun when the Schroon Lake Chamber of Commerce starts its raffle for a kayak and quilt. Tickets are available at the Chamber office and at Saturday's Opening Weekend Summer Expo. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. The kayak will return to its usual perch atop the  big green box (where a picture from last year shows where it's display) soon.

It's finally here -- Schroon's Opening Weekend, and there is so much to do, we don't have a clue where to start.
