Schroon Laker's Throwback Thursday

Today we begin a new feature: Throwback Thursday. Each Thursday we will dive deep into the Schroon Laker Post Card collection and archives and come up with something that will hopefully inspire our loyal readers to reminisce and share a tale or two.

As light flakes fall on our slice of the world, there's lots to do today in Schroon. Free movies at the library, Schroon Lake Central School's Spring Musical, Oklahoma tonight at 7pm, the Sportsman's Dinner and the Ski Tow. All of the details are in our CALENDAR section.

Our pick of the day is a series of three unique event at True North Yoga. From Deb Philp:

At 6:00pm: Doris Cohen will discuss the spiritual practices of the Native Americans who explored and hunted in and around Schroon Lake.

At 7:00pm: Sacred Drumming Circle. Drumming is a powerful, healing way to honor the earth. Join us under the full moon to explore the sacred sound that connects us all, no matter what faith (or lack of).

Adirondack Sportsman Dinner Comes To Schroon Lake

Featured Guest Speaker Dick Bernier

An expected crowd of more than 600 is expected for Saturday’s SOLD OUT Annual Adirondack Sportsman Dinner in Schroon Lake.

This year’s event, at the Mountainside Bible Chapel Complex, features more than a dozen workshops and presentations. The featured guest speaker is Dick Bernier, a legendary whitetail buck hunter, Christian, photographer and author.

For the uninitiated, Dick is a living legend.  Dan Schmidt, from Deer & Deer Hunting Magazine said of Dick:

“Dick has perfected the craft of outsmarting wilderness bucks, having tracked down and killed dozens of hog-bodied whitetails and knows more about deer behavior than many professional biologists.”
