Schroon Lake's New, Improved Boat Ramp

Photos: Bill McGhie

Southern access to Schroon Lake at the Horicon Boat launch  -- closed for several weeks as improvements were made by the DEC -- could be restored as early as this weekend.

The DEC added 14 feet of concrete to lengthen the ramp. Baring any unforeseen hiccups, the new ramp could be open as early as this weekend, we hear from Bill McGhie, President of the East Shore Schroon Lake Association.

The work was completed earlier this week and the coffer dam surrounding the project has been removed. Bill says the new, improved ramp should alleviate props, license plates and trailer lights “bottoming out.”
