Own Your Very Own Summer Camp Or Family Retreat

Back in the 1960s, dozens of campers knew it as Camp of The Pines. Until recently it was known as Sonrise, a religious retreat. Now this 100 acre plus camp is for sale.  The camp includes 9 acres on the west shore of the lake with more than 1000 feet right on the lake front.

The property features multiple buildings and meeting rooms, including a two story 6,000 square feet lodge with eight bedrooms and private baths, overlooking the lake, 6,000 square foot conference center and a dining hall with commercial kitchen. And that’s just the beginning. There are many more features and buildings --including a farm house  -- on this spectacular property

Listing agent Roger Friedman says there are multiple uses for this site, from a family camp, a summer camp, a retreat or other commercial or residential developments. The asking price is $2,250,000.  For information call Friedman Realty 518-532-7400.

Hello,
I love the "Schroonlaker" and check it out more than once a day, every day. Today I saw the posting; "Own your very own camping retreat", and I was a little disheartened.
As the owner of Schroon Lake Camps, with multiple camps for sale and rent, I never thought the Schroonlaker was going to become a forum for real estate listings. In addition to owning Schroon Lake Camps, I am also a commercial real estate broker. Does this mean I can have camp "listings" on this site? I have many "camps" here in Schroon Lake that can be rented for between $1,500. and $5,000. for the season (May 15th to October 15th), but I didn't think that the Scroonlaker site was for this purpose. I would prefer to not see the site become an on-line version of the North Country Real Estate guide.
Please let me know.
Love the site!

I think a "camp" of over 100 acres for sale in Schroon Lake area is definitely noteworthy and deserves a write up. How many of those are for sale or will come along anytime in this century? The write up about the sale of Camp of the Pines/Sonrise is very appropriate as are the interesting articles about restaurants that have been for sale and have already been purchased. In my opinion, James's comment above is much more of an advertisement, with name, position, phone, email, calling card, and statements about what camps he has for rent along with their prices, and should perhaps not be allowed. Schroon Laker, of course, has nothing to gain by the sale of the former Camp SonRise, so the article is truly news, not advertising. James comment could be seen as advertising! I hardly think making the fact that Camp Sonrise has been offered for sale is 'making SchroonLaker an on-line version of the North Country Real Estate guide' but James advertisement, disguised as a comment does!

For the record, the Sonrise property was originally Lakeside Pines Camp for Girls, owned by a family from the Albany area. (their son was a camper at Camp Idylwold.). It was sold in the late 60s and became Camp of the Pines, which I believe was, like it's later incarnation, Sonrise, run by a religious group.

I attended Lakeside Pines, the girls camp once located on this very site. It was a piece of heaven on earth. If I could afford it, I would purchase and reopen it so as to give some of today's children a chance to experience the beauty and friendship we knew. It has been a lifelong dream, but out of my reach. I only wish some of my old camping buddies would see this and take an interest. I know there were some children there from well-to-do families. I wish... (It costs nothing to dream!)
