Wildcats Defeat: What Went Wrong?

Writer Mike Bonner, from the Poststar, dissects exactly what went wrong for the Schroon Lake Wildcats after they were defeated by the Willsboro Warriors yesterday.

The ‘Cats lost 48 -37 in the Class D final of the Section VII Boys Basketball Tournament played in Plattsburgh. In his well written piece, Bonner singles out one Wildcats strategy that may have backfired for coach Lee Silvernail.

Knowing that Willsboro struggles from the line, Silvernail implemented a hack-a-Warrior strategy midway through the fourth quarter after a 3 made it an eight-point deficit. Initially it seemed to pay off. Dakota Sayward missed four straight. But from then on, the Warriors drilled 11 of 14.
