We first heard the whispers in early summer that there were homemade donuts up for grabs at a new eatery in Schroon Lake. Were they true? Find out in Food.

At least 20,000 people, folks from all over the North Country, the US and the world -- we hear there are several Aussies vacationing here this year – are expected for Monday’s July 4th Parade.
Organizer Kate Huston says this year’s parade, in the planning stages since last year’s ended, will feature a lot of music.
"I’m really pleased that we have so much music in the parade and in the day’s activities," Kate told Schroon Laker.
And if you want one of the best seats in the house, get there early. We hear folks starting placing their folding chairs along the route in downtown early in the morning.
There’s so much going on in Schroon this weekend, I am compelled to tell a joke that I’m sure a few comedians used over the years at the old Scaroon Manor:
"I feel like a mosquito at a nudist colony – I don’t know where to start!"
Music is prominently featured in this year's July 4th celebrations, with performances by several bands, including the Gregson Bros, artists from the Seagle Music Colony and Word of Life Collegians.
The drama is supplied by the ADK Shakes company performing “mini” Shakespeare scenes throughout the day. And the high flying action takes place in a tethered balloon ride at Schroon Lake Central School.

Dusk - FIREWORKS ABOVE SCHROON LAKE!!!!
The Lake's high water level -- responsible for numerous floods, delayed dock installations, a missing paddleboat and an overall late start to the summer season -- may impact the location of where this year's July 4th fireworks will be launched.
There may not be a large enough area, behind the Boathouse, the traditional launch site, to set off the fireworks, Town Supervisor Cathy Moses told Schroon Laker.
"Our back up plan is the boat launch area at Word Of Life, " Moses said. "We used that area a few years ago and it worked really well." A final decision will be made Friday.

A little over a week ago the roar of bikes could be heard all over Schroon, as Americade revelers from Lake George rolled through town. Traditionally, the bikers provide a terrific boost for the local economy ahead of the official start of the summer season. So how did the town do this year?
