Double The Fun...

You will be seeing – and hearing double – when Chris and Meredith Thompson take center stage at the Boat House Saturday for what promises to be a an extraordinary show.

The  identical twins  -- Chris on percussive and riff driven guitar, and Meredith on congas and flute -- combine music and stories in their performances to create a bond with audiences. Although this peformance is billed as a kids show, we are sure adults will hav a ton of fun as well.

The sisters who grew up in Providence, Rhode Island, have toured extensively throughout the US and Latin America and have recorded six albums. Check out the video above for a sneak peak.

Anyone For Tennis?

Of the many Schroon Lake summer traditions, the annual Tennis Tournament attracts a lot of attention. And this year was no different, as players battled the heat and each other. Play took place last Monday through Friday, with the finals on Saturday. A picnic and awards ceremony followed. Organizer Barbara Storace said this year’s tournament was one of the best.

“It was great fun this year and we had many new participants; one family being the van Windens!,” Barabra told Schroon Laker. See how the van Windens and all the players faired after the jump. Did you play this year? Tell us about your experience in comments.

Boathouse Sing-A-Long And More

What could be more of a Schroon Lake experience than a good old fashioned sing-a-along with that key summer ingredient: ice-cream!

And that’s just the beginning of what’s happening tonight at the Boat House starting at 7 pm, in what promises to be a not to be missed event.

There will also be a barbershop quartet, performances by Sue Tilotson, and the Sweet Adeline Singers, as well as appearances by some of the terrific instrumentalists that appear regularly at the Monday night Boat House Jam Sessions.

An ice-cream social follows. The event is sponsored by the Schroon-North Hudson Historical Society and while it’s a free event, they will happily take your donation.
