Schroon Readies For Sandy: "We Are All Set"

Hurricane Sandy has the potential to impact 64 million people – that’s one in five of all Americans. Here inSchroon Lake the town is prepared for whatever Sandy has in store for us.

We caught up with Town Supervisor Mike Marnell via phone at Stewarts this morning. Marnell gave us the headlines about the plans Schroon has in place.

“We are all set,” Marnell told Schroon Laker today.

Catching A Memory

Brian Hickey, of Erie, Pennsylvania, sent us this picture he took with his iphone this past July. The several layers of blues and grays capture the lake at dusk.

In the background is Nipple Mountain. Brian snapped the shot from the east side of the lake at dusk looking northwest. Thanks for the memories, Brian. Got photos you’d like to share of your summer and fall in Schroon? Send ‘em to us at schroonlaker@me.com.

Sandy is Serious

Did you spend Saturday battening down the hatches, securing furniture and getting  your watercraft out of the lake and river?

We hope you did because Sandy could kick Schroon’s butt  big time.

According to the latest forecast, from the National Weather Service, it’s potentially high winds that could whack our part of the Adirondacks.

The folks at National Grid have sent us this advisory, which we are passing on to fellow Schroon Lakers. The highlights:

Sign up for National Grid state-level broadcast text* alerts by texting the word STORM to NGRID (64743). You can opt out of receiving text messages at any time by texting the word STOP to NGRID (64743).
