Schroon's Throwback Thursday: When Main Street Had Two Cinemas

Schroon's Main Street, circa 195-. Photo courtesy Laura Donaldson

Take a tour down memory lane this week, courtesy of Laura Donaldson, long time Schroon Laker and owner of Rocky Acres B&B.

Laura shared this photo with us, from the time when her parents ran the famous John's Diner, in the early 1950s.

From Laura:

"The Golf station is where Stewart's is now, beyond that sign my parents ran 'John's Diner' in the early 50's Now it is the new building housing Upstate Insurance & the Higher Ground Coffee shop. Beyond that was the Paramount Cinema, where the community gardens are."

Back then a private home (the Stapleys) was where the Glens falls bank is now. Sahre your memories of Schroon's Main Street from any decade with us in ur comments section.

I love all the old photos of Schroon Lake. Is there a way that I can enlarge this photo and save it? I would love to get it framed.

Is there a way to get a poster of the photo on your business card. We would love to have it in our Schroon lake home.

We are working on it. And we just week's away from a total re-launch of www.schroonlaker.com. Thanks for being a loyal reader.
Cheers.
