2013 Schroon Lake Citizen Of The Year
Past winners are displayed on this plaque in the Chamber offices on Main Street
The more time we spend in greater Schroon, the more we realize how many good deeds get done in these parts by dedicated folks.
And each year the Schroon Lake Area Chamber of Commerce recognizes those efforts with their Citizen Of the Year Award.
And the deadline is fast approaching for you to nominate someone who you think deserves recognition. To be eligible to be nominated, you have to be a full time resident of Schroon, Severance, Paradox Lake or North Hudson.
But you can be a second home owner, vacationer, or from a nearby town to write a letter of nomination, according to Rosemarie Ritson, from the Schroon Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.
“This is something we have been doing since 1976. The names of our past honorees are placed on a plaque in the chamber office. It’s a very unique honor to be chosen,” Rosemarie told Schroon Laker today.
If you’d like to write a letter of nomination, you’d better hurray. Nominations close on Tuesday, May 14. The Citizen of The Year will be chosen by the Schroon Lake Chamber board of directors -- who will review nominations from this year and last -- at their May 21st meeting.
The 2013 Citizen of the Year also becomes the grand marshal of the July 4th Parade and is honored at a formal dinner at a local restaurant in Schroon Lake.
