Ski-Dooing Your Way Around Schroon

As the snow begins to melt, and winter finally says goodbye to Schroon and the North Country,  Dwayne Anderson is already thinking about the next freshly groomed trails he and other snow-mobile riders will be blasting through.

Dwayne, the president of the Schroon-North Hudson Snow Mobile Club, hopes he'll be joined by the winner of a brand spanking new 2013 Ski-Doo snowmobile the club is raffling off.
Dwayne says the funds raised by the raffle will go towards the purchase of a trail groomer, as well as the purchase of a a four wheeler.
"We'd use the four wheeler  in the spring and off season to keep the trails trimmed back and cleared," Dwayne told Schroon Laker.
The club purchased the snowmobile from Smith Marine in Old Forge. "They gave us a great deal, at cost. They are friends as well as members of the club."
The tickets are $10 each and only 2,000 will be sold. As for this past season, Dwayne rates it as "good to fair" in and around Schroon and North Hudson.
"It was a little tougher in Pottersville and North Warren. But our two volunteer groomers from the club did an awesome  job with what they had, as did the groomers from The Town Of Schroon.
The winner will be drawn as soon as the tickets sell out, or at the club's November meeting.
"We hope to have the Senior Citizen of the year pick the winner," Dwayne said.
Tickets are on sale right now at the Schroon Lake Chamber Of Commerce and Curtis Lumber. Select area businesses, including the town's local pubs and eateries, will have tickets for sale later this week.
