The Postman Doesn’t Always Ring Twice

Schroon Lake’s Post Office is about to get a lot busier.

With the announcement the Severance Post Office will soon be shuttered by the US Postal Service, that will mean a six mile round trip for those residents wishing to use post office services.

Two other area offices will also be closing: Port Kent, Schuyler Falls. From The Press Republican:

Maureen Marion, a Postal Service regional spokeswoman, said the decision came after considering input from meetings, hearings and surveys. A final date will be determined after a five-month moratorium on post-office closures ends May 15.
