Schroon's New Tasty One Stop Meal Shopping Spot

We keep hearing rave reviews from folks who have discovered the bounty of delights at Monday’s Farmer’s Market.

"You could plan an entire meal or two here, complete with wine,"said holiday maker Dr. Ed Latimer, from Montclair, New Jersey, who was staying with friends with his wife Isabelle.

"From a cheese plate for appetizers, salad greens, herbs, the main course, to dessert, it’s all here. And there’s even wine."

Dr. Latimer was impressed with the white chocolate flavor of a dessert wine sold by Colebrook Country wines.

“For a small market, it covers everything,” Isabelle told us. And here is just a sampling of what the Latimers picked up: jams, pies, salad greens, herbs, maple syrup, wine, cheese.

Farmer's Market. Today 9 am to 1 pm. Parking lot outside the Town Hall.

Wanna Hear A Great Yarn?

Well, there was lots of yarns shared and a lot of yarn spun yesterday, when women from as far away as Plattsburg, Willsboro, Schroon Lake, Loon Lake, Beaver Pond, Lake George, and Chestertown gathered for “Knitting in Public”.

Schroon Laker and knitter Julie Sawyers tells us it was a “wonderful afternoon” outside the Chester Yarn Boutique.

"Food and conversation and great weather made it a very enjoyable afternoon. The national “knit in public” day was in June, but it rained here".

The Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism President James McKenna is banking on it, and promoting Schroon Lake is one of their priorities,  according to the Press Republican

"We've launched new sites. Schroon Lake has one up and running. A new Lake Champlain site is in the process. That will be running before the summer starts. Lake Placid and Wilmington (websites) are being updated."
