The annual Schroon Lions' Club Auction each Memorial day, always attracts some terrific bargains and a lot of attention from bidders. But this year it could be a race to the finish.
Up for grabs, going once, going twice, going down the Northway at a great rate of speed: a 1984 Porche 944!
That's right folks, that black beauty pictured above, is going under the auctioneer's hammer on Sunday, making last year's years fight over a Corona ice chest, seem a little like drinking a flat beer.
Lion Patti Mehm told us about this incredible donation earlier today:
"Rev up your engines, we had a very generous donation that we are really excited about, a 1984 Porsche 944. It is a black two door and has a slider roof. We believe this will draw a lot of excitement to event, come out and get your bid in and own this vintage sports car!"
Well put Patti!
The Annual Town of Schroon Lions Club Fundraising Auction and Garage Sale takes place at the Schroon Lake Boathouse located adjacent to the Town of Schroon Boat Launch.
Professional auctioneer, Ed Haroff of Haroff Auction and Realty, will once again be donating his auctioneer's services for the event.
So you don't miss any of the action, you can watch auction items displayed on an overhead monitor. The Garage Sale has been expanded and will also be held on Saturday, 9 am till 3pm at the Boathouse and again on Sunday from 9am 'til 3pm.
The hammert goes down at the auction at 12 noon. You are likely to find furniture, antiques, household goods, sports and fitness equipment, knick-knacks, and children’s items as well as some cool gift certificates from area merchants.
And it's still not too late to donate. Drop off your old junk realy cool items directly at the Boathouse, Saturday May 25th, between 9:00 am – 3 pm and Sunday, May 26th before noon.
Proceeds from the fundraising event are used to aid the visually impaired and disadvantaged folks locally, nationally, and all over the world.
As you may recall, the auction is one of many fundraising events that the Town of Schroon Lions Club holds to raise funding for local education scholarships, Camp Colby scholarships, Leader Dogs for the Blind Lions Eye Bank in Albany, and emergency dialer equipment.
