Schroon Lake has a new addition to its ever growing art scene with a new weekly art fair.
Today is the second installment of the fair, which showcases the works of local artisans. The idea came from Mickey Abbott, an established ceramic artist, who has called Schroon Lake home for more than 20 years.
“I have traveled extensively to arts and crafts shows all over the country, and I got to see what local communities offered artists,” Mickey told Schroon Laker.
“I thought why not have a weekly event in Schroon Lake?”
Mickey went before the Town with the idea last year. “They really liked it”.
Mickey says she got an “excellent” response from both artists and the public at their first outing last week.
Today’s artists and crafters include Anna Hay and her customized collection of hooded towels and hand painted apparel, Scott Phillips and his eye popping log furniture, Lorraine Erikson and her crochet and knitted gifts and Mickey’s very cool looking one of a kind hand fired and painted ceramics.
Arts Fair. Town Hall. 10 am - 4 pm. Every Thursday until September 1.
